The Amorist is delighted to report that her favourite vendor of all things erotic, Lucy Litwack of Coco de Mer, has just bought out the company and – in so doing – becomes London’s queen of lingerie. It’s Litwack who’s responsible for bringing Pamela Anderson (star of the Amorist’s launch issue) in as Coco de Mer’s brand ambassador and she’s also introduced sensual new lines of undies, which make anyone with a pulse cry out with lust. Under her ownership, the Covent Garden store (those not in London can buy Coco’s ranges online) recently acquired a rather fine, bespoke sex chair, modelled on the one supposedly used by Edward VII and his mistresses. It closely resembles one of the photos The Amorist used to illustrate an article on sex furniture in Issue Two, penned by the wonderful Serena Kutchinsky. When she asked Litwack where the chair had come from, she was told the Royal Shakespeare Company had donated it. It was made for a play and when that came to an end the RSC weren’t sure what to do with it, until a member of the company visited the shop. It’s now at the back of the store with a mannequin in the seeming throes of ecstasy tilted back on it.

The difference between sex and love is that sex relieves tension and love causes it.
